The Wedding. Part 2.

On Friday morning before the wedding I washed my hair and quickly dried it off. I used Heidi's Heat Styles Mousse from Schwarzkopf to add some volume and making sure there was heat protection included straight away. I then filled in my eye brows with a pencil from Australis and then we drove off to the national park.
Once we got to the house where the bride and bridal party were getting ready, we started to get ready too. I used my brand new palette from Benefit to create a gold smokey eye look and it was so easy to use. The palette is part of the World Famous Neutrals series and I will be doing a proper review + swatches very soon.
I also added my favourite bronzer from NARS (Luster) to create an allround glow. To make sure my makeup stayed on I wore the Napoleon Perdis Primer underneath. It's such a great primer! Then, to set it all I spritzed on the Multi-Active Toner from Dermalogica and it definitely did the trick. I think that it is important to look glowy and dewy for a day time event that moves into night time without looking like having makeup caked on. Fresh is the word and it's not a hard look to achieve actually as long as the prep is done right. The gloss I wore on my lips was the very neutral Juicy Tubes Friday from Lancome's Once Upon A Week Collection.
I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my hair but I did a few quick GHD curls and set them with Original Mineral's Surfbomb which smells so delicious and is a fantastic sea salt spray. This gave my hair the texture and hold it needed to stay put all night. I then just randomly pinned it up with bobby pins, set it with the Tresemme Tres Two hair spray and the job was done.
The dress I wore was from Portmans and it was the Zebra Prom Dress. I love the texture and the pattern and it was also very decent in terms of chestacle-coverage. It is one of those dresses that I know I'm going to use over and over again. The price was $99 which is just excellent. I accessorised it with a triangle necklace from Lovisa, the Pindot Waisted Belt ($19.95) from Portmans and my new gold cuff from the April Her Fashion Box. My earrings were a cheapie purchase from Bangkok and they really are just tiny gold studs. I needed to keep things simple. My bag was from House of Harlow 1960 and I will be doing a separate post on it.
My handsome man looked fantastic in his navy suit and blue tie. He was also wearing a Tiffany & Co tie clip that I bought for him years ago. It attracted many a compliment.
Since the wedding took place on the beach I wore my old Sportsgirl sandals and they did the trick. They are so simple, yet make a much better statement than Havaiianas would do. Barefoot was another option but it felt a little too casual.
For the reception I wiped all the sand off and switched to my new velvety Portmans shoes (are you sensing a theme yet?). I love the gold detailing and the heel isn't too high so they were pretty comfortable. However, after a few too many rounds on the dance floor they came off and on came the sandals again.
Like I said in yesterday's post, the wedding was absolutely sensational and so was the reception. We had the best time and the weather put on a real good show.
It was also fantastic to spend a lot of time with family and friends and to celebrate such a special day!

  2. You look so beautiful, love the way you did your hair :) Did you know that the NP primer is the same as the Face of Australia Face Base, just repackaged? I am a big FOA fan and was so excited to find that out lol. Love the picture of the wedding cake from last post, that is what mine is like icing wise :)

  3. Your darker hair and the blue in the dress bring's out the colour of your eyes. You both look amazing! I hope the wedding went off without any rain although it's supposed to bring good luck (if you believe that). Congrats to the Newlyweds. Looking forward to a post on the House of Harlow bag. Which Her Fashion Box do you get? I love the concept of the different boxes but I'd like one that's Classic, Trendy and Femine cause I'm a bit of each and I hope they'll ship to NZ or launch one here because I'd jump at the opportunity of subscribing.
