The Hens Weekend

I mentioned in Friday's post that I was going away for the weekend to my gorgeous Sister-in-Law's hens weekend. It was all very exciting and I was so excited to hop on the ferry across the harbour and ready to begin the festivities. The wedding is in less than two weeks so it's all happening! I also have to confess that I find it hard to ferry past the Opera House without taking a photo because she is SUCH a beauty. I can't help being touristy in my own city...
After a Friday night with lots of champers, salty olives and takeaway a morning in the pool was well deserved. The water was a little cold but so delicious and it was even better in the jacuzzi afterwards. I think I managed to stay almost two hours which was just beautiful.
To prevent my skin being dry after the pool I opened my new Body Butter Duo in Sweet Pea from The Body Shop. It's divinely scented and has two compartments, one for dryer skin areas such as knees and elbows and the other is for normal skin areas such as legs and arms. I love it already and it gave my skin such a nice sheen all afternoon. This would look great with a body illuminator mixed in or just a little bronzer added to it if there is no time for self tanning.
I got ready around lunch time because the guests who weren't staying at the house would be coming in the afternoon. I kept my makeup pretty simple and just added lots of bronzer from NARS in Luster, Bobbi Brown's Cool Lilac Collection on the eyes and Benefit Brows a-go-go on the brow area. I curled my hair with Remington's Perfect Curl and then deeply regretted not bringing hair spray. Miraculously the curls only dropped slightly throughout the night, I was very impressed. My earrings are an H&M find from Christmas. I love the combination of pink and orange.

My nails were Sally Hansen's Frutti Petutie, a shade that is hot pink in one light and more corallish in the next. Such a versatile colour! The rings are from Pandora.
I needed a touch of pink with my outfit and I had a pop of pink with my silver arm party which featured bits and pieces from Tiffany & Co, Tommy Hilfigher and Equip.
I wore my pink Coach bag which is a perfect size and the straps make it so handy. I could also fit everything I needed in there without worrying about anything falling out.
To look more awake I wore Benefit's eye bright on the waterline of my eyes and it helped a lot. I also customised a pink lip shade by applying the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Cherish Devotion (it has amazing longevity) and then adding the Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake. They both lasted all night and I was truly impressed.
My other Sister-in-Law looked amazing on the night. Her dress is from Ladakh and I love the colour. Although she made me look more like I am a cast member in Twilight than anything else. I really need to get with the program when it comes to fake tanning, I just never can find the time.
I wore my birthday dress from Dotti and a pair of sandals from Natasha. My plan was to change into heels before we went out but I completely forgot. The sandals are just so comfortable and were perfect for dancing. I'm lucky no one stepped on my toes too.
After copious amounts of punch, cheese platters, snacks, more salty olives, Mexican food, tequila served with orange and cinnamon (delicious!) and white sangria and the night ended in a sea of confetti before more dancing ensued at a nearby club.
It was a beautiful night, but I really needed Sunday to recover. On Sunday morning it was back in the pool for a refreshing swim/jacuzzi detox before going home and straight to bed.

I can't wait for the wedding and I know that it's going to be such a beautiful day. It was such a great weekend and so nice to have a little holiday.

How was your weekend?

Xx I
