DIY - Moccona Jar Candle Holder

I have been waiting to do this DIY for months and I may have been pushing my coffee drinking colleagues to keep the coffee enjoyment going so that I could get my hands on the Moccona Jar sooner rather than later. I haven't bought much coffee this year either seeing as I have a Nespresso machine at home and Moccona waiting for me at work. The extra pocket change has come in handy too and outweighed my magazine addiction. At least that's what I'm telling myself.
For this super easy DIY you just need a finished Moccona Jar, coffee drinking colleagues, matches and a candle or two. I bought my candles from Dusk which is just such a tempting store. Too much pretty! I got two candles because I wasn't sure which size I needed. A spare candle is never a bad thing. Whilst the candles come in a range of colours I went for the safe option and got the shade Shell which is neutral, warm and comforting.
All I did was to cleanse the glass jar, add the candle and light it up. I think the hardest part of this tiny project was to remove the wrapping from the candle.
I went with the smaller sized candle for the jar because it fit better and it also casts such a nice and warm glow as it burns away along with the summer night. I love it and think it looks so good.
I am big on recycling and really appreciate how easy it is to upcycle something in a simple manner. For a more themed approach, stones or sand can be added around the base or alternatively a ribbon tied around the top of the jar. The sky is the limit!

Do you like upcycling? Are you a candle fan like me?

Xx I

  1. Don't forget about the Moccona jar lid! It is easy to remove the suction cap and I use that for tea lights - even better you can paint pretty designs on them with glass paint.
Everyone got one of these as a christmas gift in my office - now they know why I was taking the empty jars home. Love your site by the way. B

    1. I know! I was trying to place a cube candle in it but couldn't fit so your tea light tip is amazing! I'm going to do that for sure.

Love the gift idea too, thank you:)

Hope you have a lovely weekend X
