The Australia Day Wrap-Up

On Saturday it was Australia Day and it was a fabulous day. The weather was nice and we listened eagerly to the Triple J hottest 100 countdown. Even Google got into the kangaroo spirit.
I knew I wanted green and gold nails so I quickly painted them with OPI's Jade is the New Black which is one of the best greens on the market. They dried quickly thanks to the Quick Dry Drops, also from OPI.
I then added the 24k gold glitter coat from Hello Darling. It was a great combination and took less than ten minutes all up. I do love a good sparkle!
On Friday night I baked twenty Lamington muffins which were absolutely delicious. The muffin has raspberry jam hidden inside and the outside is coated with chocolate and coconut. They were a big hit amongst friends, family and colleagues. Thanks again for smashing it out of the park with your recipees Donna.
I also made a super easy, and equally delicious white wine sangria. On Friday night I sliced up six oranges, two lemons, two limes and squeezed them into the bowl. I then added them and two bottles of Sauvignon Blanc with three chunky Granny Smith apples and left it overnight. On Saturday before serving I added 1 litre of Ginger Ale and some ice cubes to keep it cool.
We had friends and family over for an Aussie-style barbeque and dished up beer, sangria, burgers, chicken skewers, sausages and the lamington muffins. It was such a good night and we all had a good time!
Mike and I also got into the spirit with our fancy headpieces. His was an Aussie flag cap and mine was a Tassie devil hair bow. I also had on true blue eyeliner too of course.
It was a perfect day!

Xx I

  2. Sounds like you had an awesome Australia Day! I hung out at the beach all day with some friends & then went to my mum's and watched their local fireworks - was such a good day.

    1. We sure did Jessi! Wish we had fireworks but missed out this time. Sydney does such spectacular fireworks for any occasion! Sounds like you had a great day too X

  3. Your day sounded amazing. :) My parents were looking after Adeline, so it was an errand day (boring) and a date night at my hubbys favourite Indian place.

We ended up having my parents over the next day and did a BBQ though, so it was a belated Australia day.
