The Complete Mascara Aversion

Since I left my previous job in June, I have hardly used mascara at all. I can probably count less than ten times that I've added lash-lenghtener to my eye area. The reasons are what they are; it takes time, it's boring to remove at night and I didn't feel like I needed that extra step. Looking back at it I think I should start using it more again because in my new job, I never know who I'm going to run into. As much as I love the convenience and beauty of a natural look, I miss having more defined and volumised lashes and I'm getting back on the mascara train.
In Auckland I had the pleasure of running into both the cardboard version and real version of Javier Gomez, who is a true world champion in triathlon circles. This picture was taken just after the race (he won) and I was delighted to have my picture taken with him although since Auckland was freezing on the World Championship day, I was wearing five layers and a dorky beanie. Anything to avoid the rain, wind and in between bad weather.
Next up is a different world champion, Craig Alexander who is an Ironman legend. This picture was taken in warm and sunny Noosa and Crowie was absolutely lovely!
In terms of coverups for the mascara fails, I can add sunnies, glasses and just general good concealer skills to the mix. It all helps! My newest mascara discovery is from a brand I haven't used much before and it's called Models Preferred. Their BIGlash Mascara has a huge cone shaped wand and it gives both length and definition with a lot of volume on the side. It is available from Priceline and costs $14.99 which is a very reasonable mascara price.
For me, it has passed both tests - it survived in lots of rainy drizzle without any mascara running down my cheeks. It also blitzes warm weather like its nobody's business. I am very impressed, and as an added bonus, it is easy to remove at night. No wonder my usual L'Oreal has been replaced and BIGlash is on high rotation. After all, you never know who you'll run into.

Which mascara are you currently using?

Xx I

  1. I love Clinique High Lengths mascara, but it is pricey! I also love Australis Multi-Mega Lash - so cheap, and does such a good job! x

    1. Clinique does great mascaras but I agree, they aren't cheap. Australis is a great budget friendly alternative x

  2. I have so many mascaras!! I like maybelline ones- colossal and covergirl lash blast. I have never used one that has blown me away, but my go to one for length would have to be model co fibre lash. Now you have me wanting to try this one! Great post xx

    3. Cool! Feel free to email me if you want:) I left my old job and sort of fell into the one I have now but I am really enjoying the change and no day is the same. Sometimes you have to step away from where you are to realise what you want to do and to see what will happen. It can be a little scary and rewarding at the same time. Good luck x
