Swisse Liquid Chlorophyll

I am now on my second bottle of the liquid Chlorophyll from Swisse and I thought I would share my thoughts on it. I keep preaching about the benefits and I really enjoy having my daily green drink. I have to admit that I was doing it slightly wrong in the beginning because I missed that all-important line about "refrigerating after opening" and the flavour was therefore a little bland. When I finally read it I placed my half-full bottle of chlorophyll in the fridge and the flavour was more minty, more distinct and just fresher.
What I really like about the liquid chlorophyll is that it reminds me to drink more water, I enjoy the flavour, my skin and eyes are brighter, it is the perfect hangover cure (both proactive and reactive) and my body just feels better. A lot of processed food is very acidic and as such, the alkaline properties of the chlorophyll neutralises it and it is like a little health boost.

What I don't like about it is that my tongue goes green and whilst it could be fun for Halloween, it just looks a little weird on a regular weekday. Another "disadvantage" is that I sometimes get a green mo' from drinking the chlorophyll. I think it has something to do with my drinking technique because this sometimes happens with red wine and orange vitamin water. Learn from my mistakes and remember to look in the mirror before going out after having drunk a coloured liquid.
It is recommended to have liquid chlorophyll before breakfast in the morning. I usually have it as recommended, but I live on the edge and as such I will have it during the day and in the evening too depending on how much hydration I am after. I don't think it can hurt, but remember to look out for that  green moustache.

Do you drink liquid chlorophyll? How many glasses of water a day do you drink?

Xx I

  1. GREAT POST! I haven't started drink mine yet, but now I know what to look out for and what to look forward to.

    Thanks for this!

I don't drink enough water, I find. When I'm at work I have a glass on my desk that is always full and it's supposed to encourage me to drink it, but I barely get through 3 glasses a day because I go for juices instead.

I'll see how the Chlorophyll works out for me and I'll report back. xx

    1. Oooh I am so excited for you. I can tell such a difference in me when I don't drink enough water. My motivation with chlorophyll is that I want to drink it whilst it's still cold because it tastes so much better x

  2. I always start the day with a glass hot water and lemon and a glass of liquid chlorophyll.

I use the Grants one, the Swisse one tastes weird to me. But then I also missed the note about refrigerating it so I'll have to see if that makes a difference.

    1. I need to get back on the lemon train, thanks for the reminder. I haven't tried Grants before but I might check it out next time. Refrigirating it made a massive difference in taste x

  3. I find that I am never thirsty, so I literally don't drink half as much fluids in a day than I should. I just need to get into a good routine, but this looks pretty interesting!

    1. No the ethanol isn't harmful at all, it is a result of the chlorophyll being derived from the grain and sugar cane. Which is lucky because I love it too x

  8. Started it this morning.....
Eeeeeek my 11 year old son had a massive allergic reaction... I have had no issues, but him being allergy prone we thought it would great great to boost his immune system etc.
Not so...... Not sure what in it he reacted too but won't be trying it again for him in a hurry.

Glad to see so many positives... I will be staying on it!!

    1. How exciting for you!

Sorry to hear that your son reacted to it:( Maybe it's just not a good combination for him. You can easily replace the chlorophyll and just give him some hot water and lemon and he'll get some benefits from that:)

Let me know how you go xx

  9. Do you think it is a problem / cause for concern if you don't refrigerate after opening? I've had mine for 3 months and have only just realised I was supposed to keep it in the fridge! xx

    1. Not at all! You will be fine. My first batch of chlorophyll was kept in my cupboard because I'm really bad at reading instructions. The only thing is that when the chlorophyll is cold it tastes better, so that's the advantage:) Good luck xxx
