Philosophy great skin is in. Trial Kit from Adore Beauty.

When it comes to changing skin care and trying new products, I prefer to get a sample kit so that I can give my skin the chance to properly try it before taking the plunge and investing. My skin can be quite sensitive and it is therefore paramount that I don't bombard it with lots of new things at once because it just doesn't like it. It would be like going to Cold Rock and ordering the bubble gum ice cream, adding on all the extras like gummy bears, sour worms, oreo cookies, peanut butter and the likes. The result in theory should be delicious but it is just too much and cannot be done. For the record, my favourite combination is strawberry ice cream with brownie bits added in. Unbeatable combination and delicious flavours.

Back on track now (can you tell I have ice cream on my mind?), and I was very excited to get the chance to try the Philosophy great skin is in kit for normal to combination skin from Adore Beauty, one of my favourite beauty destinations. I hadn't tried anything from philosophy before, but I had heard such great things about it and even Oprah is a fan of their hope in a jar moisturiser.
I really liked the little survey on the side of the box and I ticked yes to four out of five. Thankfully I don't have any wrinkles yet (except for my happily received smiley wrinkles) but I wanted all of the other things.
The routine is really simple. I mean really simple, and I started off using the help me retinol treatment every other day for a week just to make sure my skin wasn't going to react. Using it every night worked really well but I have now switched back to every other night because I want it to last longer. I still have quite a bit left of the cleanser and the moisturiser and don't want to run out to soon.
I really like the simple packaging, it is beautiful and doesn't need any bells and whistles. The purity cleanser is absolutely beautiful and just so gentle. I did have one issue with the cleanser and that was that I felt like I was wasting a little product because the bottle is an open neck one, and whilst it says that you should use a generous amount, I felt like it was a too generous amount that was dispersed unless I was really careful. Then again, too much of a good thing is not a bad thing at all.

I also quickly started to understand why so many women are fans of hope in a jar. I only need a little bit every morning and night and it sinks in really quickly. It feels like my skin just drinks it up without leaving a greasy residue. The moisture also lasts and I have noticed a more even skintone and a nice glow on my face since I started using it.
After four weeks the kit is still going. I have about 40% left of the purity cleanser, a third left of the precious help me treatment and half of help in a jar still remaining. I don't know how I did it but I have managed to damage the jar of help but because the outside is just protection, the cream has not been damaged and we are still going strong. I really like the philosophy products and they have done great things for my skin.
The kit costs $50 and there are also biggerr kits available which include larger products and I am considering taking the plunge for one of these once my current kit runs out. I just have to finish Project 50 pan first and I am almost halfway there.

Have you tried philosophy before? A fan of hope in a jar?

Xx I

  1. I have only tried Philosophy shower gels, never their skincare. Have heard mixed reviews on hope in a jar... Might have to try it and see for myself!

  3. I've never tried their products, but it's always been on my to try list. I''ve heard so many great things from bloggers about their skincare. I'm so hesitant to try new skincare since my skin is a little sensitive.
