Lancome versus L'Oreal: Mascara

Mascara is one of the first beauty products I started using and I love how easy it is to apply for great effect. I prefer volumising mascaras, but I won't say no to the ones that lengthen my lashes too. A good mascara also needs to be easy to remove at night, and for this reason I have only ever worn water proof mascara once. I am lucky in the sense that mascara never runs on me when it rains so I never worry about that, but snow on the other hand is no good news for my lashes. I don't have to worry about that here in Sydney so at least that's one more problem solved. I change my mascara every two to three months because I like it fresh and I have a backlog of a few that needs to be tried. It is recommended to change your magic bottle of eye wand liquid every six months or so, and I would also stress - no matter how much you love your best friend, don't share mascaras with each other. Conjunctivitis is no one's best friend.

A brand I always come back to when it comes to Mascara is L'Oreal. They do fantastic mascaras with a reasonable price tag. They also don't dry out. My most recent acquisition is the Lash Architecht 4D mascara. I must add that Mike snorted when he heard the 4D name and thought that it was ridicculous. The cosmetics industry does like to invent things that we ladies just don't need and I am quite happy just having 3D lashes. Then again, it makes for a good slogan. The 4D cost about $20, has a nice long cone-shaped wand and does a great job with giving my lashes volume. The mascara doesn't drip during the day and it is one of my favourites. I would definitely re-purchase this mascara. I have yet to be disappointed by a L'Oreal mascara.

The next mascara is more exxy and it is the famed Hypnose Doll Eyes from Lancome. I received a sample of it and I really really like it. I more wish that I hadn't because it costs $52 and I can't justify paying such a price for a mascara. The Doll Eyes brush is beautiful and it should almost come with a "no clump guarantee". I also thinlk that it gives instant results, there is no need for layering (although I sometimes do) and it just looks so good.
The thing with makeup is that it comes in all price ranges and we have to make choices. There are products I skimp on and then there are products that I spend more on. Because I have found that cheaper mascaras do a good job (and the fact that mascaras have a quick expiry date), this is a product that I am fine with spending less on. Then again, if the Lancome mascara fairy was to show up, who am I to say no?

Which mascara are you currently using? Do you spend or skimp on them?

Xx I
