In My Beach Kit

I am lucky enough to live by the beach. When I moved to Australia I knew that I wanted to be by the beach and so far I have not strayed from that wish at all. I have lived by two amazing beaches but where I am now is less touristy and more local. Just the way I like it.

There is no better way to start the week than to avoid the dreary Monday by spending it at the beach. I just love it. Yesterday the weather was perfect, the sky was blue and the water looked photoshopped. Heaven in other words. The only reminder that it is spring, not summer, is that the water is still freezing (16.5 degrees to be exact). I am going to wait for it to heat up before dipping in. So far only my toes have been brave enough.
When I am at the beach I really enjoy reading a magazine, having a timeout or getting into a good book. The great thing about the Kindle is that you can use it in the sun without it reflecting like the iPhone or iPad does. I don't often bring it to the beach though because I don't want it to be stolen or get full of sand. Paperback is the safest option in this instance.
The sand in Australia is just beautiful. It is so nice and soft with a cooling effect.
No trip to the beach is complete without my beach kit and I am very sun safe. I always apply sunscreen prior to going to the beach with a separate one for my face and my body which is re-applied during the day. I also bring a hat, my sunnies, an SPF30+ lip balm, a mag and water.
My current beach tote is a summery one from SHE with lots of pockets, a zipper to keep my things safe and it also has space for lots of things. A roomy beach bag is a must. I am now ready for more beach days as it gets warmer and I am hoping for a dip in the water soon. I'm just waiting for the viking in me to man up!

How often do you go to the beach? What's in your beach kit?

Xx I

  4. When I was living in Canada, the nearest beach was at 12 hours drive... Now that I'm in Australia and that the beach is at 20 minutes drive I'm just so happy and I absolutely love it! Beautiful pictures by the way!

  5. I used to live an hour from the beach but since meeting hubby have moved to his neck of the woods & am only streets away from the beach. It's so lovely & still such a novelty for me!! Loving this spring weather as I can finally walk along the esplanade with the pram without getting blown away!
Your beach bag is so cute & I agree with you about the kindle, don't think I'll be taking mine to the beach either, good advice :)
