Maybelline Color Tattoo in Painted Purple

Maybelline recently launched a collection of Color Tattoos which promises a 24 hour lasting time as well as no creasing. There are nine shades available and I remember looking at them in store and walking away because I could not make up my mind about which shade I wanted. Such is my indecisiveness that if I can't choose, I just have to leave because it is all too hard. Thankfully I was lucky enough to win a Priceline competition on Instagram where there were 20 Color Tattoos up for grabs. This meant that I didn't have to pick a shade, the shade would pick me.

Painted Purple is just like the name suggests, a very purple colour, and yes it does look like you have dipped a brush in a paint jar and slathered it on.
The texture is mousse-like and you can apply it with your fingers or a brush. I prefer using a brush so that I can have more control over the application. I also don't like purple fingers unless I am polishing my nails.
The swatch is so vibrant and it utterly delights me! Painted Purple is a fantastic shade which delivers on strength and longevity.
I have been using my Color Tattoo at night because the shade is so strong I don't want to scare any children during the day-time. I have been getting so many compliments on the colour because it is unusual and bright. It also stays on so I don't have to worry about creasing.
I wouldn't mind trying another shade of Color Tattoos, after all I would have only eight to choose from and that's easier than a choice of nine. I'm thinking something neutral for during the day which can also serve as a primer for when I apply Painted Purple at night.

Have you tried the Color Tattoos? Do you like purple eye shadow?

Xx I

  1. Wow, love the colour on you. I have 6 of the more neutral colour tattoo's, but I might need to add a pop of colour to my collection with this one.

Bad to the Bronze is the most wearable neutral IMO, but I'm not sure it would work as a primer for Painted Purple. Maybelline's just come out with some new limited edition colours in the US, inclusing a great looking shimmery champagne nude. Hopefully those will be released here too.

  2. Use the free BECCA Eye Tint in the neutral colour that came with Madison (thanks for Le tip!) as a primer / base. Haven't tried the Maybelline Tattoos yet. Must get around to it one day soon! :)

    1. Great idea Kimba, I love it. I got the neutral colour so I will try it as a base although I like it on its own too. Xx

  3. That's fab :-) your pretty lucky with competition wins. I recommend the Taupe one. UK version is Beyond Taupe I have it but these do crease on me even if I use an eye primer but I still like it I just have to touch up. I must have the pickiest eyelids because so many other people say it doesn't crease for them and I'm jealous. Going to try it with my Australis eye primer to see if that helps it stay on longer without creasing.
