New Skin Care: Ultraceuticals

About a month ago I started using some Ultraceuticals products which I bought from Ella Rouge because they were having a 20% off promotion. I was so excited to try my new regime and I started as soon as I could. The pack I bought included a travel set of the Even Skintone Serum Mild, the Ultra Milk Cleanser, the Ultra Moisturiser Cream and the Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF 30+. I think buying travel kits prior to embarking on a skincare regime is a great idea because you get to try the products before you invest fully and you can therefore also see if your skin is reacting positively or negatively to the change.
Three out of the four products in the kit have glycerin as a main ingredient and as such they should not be used at the same time because it is too harsh on your skin. I found this out through experience when two big pimples popped up on my chin. I named them the Olsen twins and started to alternate the glycerin products to prompt my skin to calm down.

I found the Ultra Milk Cleanser to be fantastic and calming as promised, but as the full size retails for $59 I don't think I will purchase the full size. Cleanser is always something that I don't see a huge point in spending a lot of money on because it won't stay on your skin for long. I also really liked the Ultra Moisturiser Cream and am still considering a purchase of this. It does cost $69 so it's not cheap but it soothes and moisturises so very well. It is on my wishlist. The Protective Daily Moisturiser is just super, and has reminded me to use SPF 30+ on my face every day (even in winter), and I may be able to justify the price of $69 because it comes in a 150 ml size so it will last a long time. I have been using the L'Oreal UV Perfect for a long time which is cheaper in price but smaller in size. It retails for around $15-$20 but comes in a 30 ml tube so at the end of the day the price difference isn't too big.
What I did love, and purchase, was the Even Skintone Serum Mild which is promising to even my skintone and brighten it up, and I've already seen results. I am trying to treat some mild acne scarring and lots of freckles so I will keep you updated on how it all goes. Because the ingredients in the serum stay active for up to 24 hours it is extremely important to wear sunscreen over it every day. The serum was $90 but due to the promotion I paid $72. I think it is important to invest in serums because they are the super stars of the skin care world.

Which skin care are you currently using? What do you spend more on?

  1. I'm a big Ultraceuticals fan. I love the SPF moisturiser and the new Ultra Brightening Serum, after using Even Skintone Serum previously. It did amazing things with my pigmentation.

Don't love the cleanser and the other cream I use as a night cream. It's good but not great. But their retinoid night creams are fabulous!

    1. Oh Kimba, I'm so pleased it gets your tick of approval. Now I will get the SPF moisturiser because it is really nice and it's size justifies the price. Thanks again X

  2. I have heard so many good things about this range - I may have to jump on board. I still (mostly) use my Paula's Choice Range, with some NeoStrata in there too - I am a big fan of these ranges and they seem to like my skin....or my skin likes them?!?! x

  3. I loooove Ultraceuticals! They are pricey but I find their products really do well on my skin. The Ultra C Sheer and A Sheer are wonderful too. And the Ultra Moisturiser is something I always come back to - it does seem pricey for a basic moisturiser - but sometimes my skin just craves it so I always purchase at least one tube of it a year!

  5. Thanks for the great review and sharing your experience with this product. I guess there's nothing wrong of checking new products and testing which of which is the best for your skin.
