DYI Inspiration Board

This morning I went to the post office to pick up a few fun parcels and whilst I waited in line I saw that there were some bulletin boards for sale at the grand price of $7.95. I had been thinking of doing an inspiration board for a while and here was the push to do so. The inspiration board differs from the vision board in the sense that I just want to feel inspired and not prediciting my life in six months time.
I have amassed quite the magazine collection over the past few months and I have really enjoyed reading them again. I usually only read Grazia but I love getting magazines from time to time. This also helped improving the aspects of my inspiration board.

You don't need much to get started, I only needed a pair of scissors and some pretty pictures. Sadly the bulletin board did not come with pins so I had to make my third trip out for the day to get some.
I therefore started with cutting up some pretty pictures and getting my puma ring into the action. Whenever I wear the ring one of my fingers feel numb so I decided to retire it to the inspiration board for some added bling and texture.
When I went to my local newsagent I found lots of pins and it was hard to pick a favourite. The pearlized pins were $2.95 and I bought the thumb tacks ($3) just in case I ran out of pearls.
I love scratchies and will occasionally purchase some when I am at a newsagent or in a 7/11. I don't do it often because I don't want to get addicted to the thrill. The newsagent assured me that he only sells winning tickets. Guess what? He lied.
I had such fun getting back into craft and I did my best to cut the pieces out properly.
I am really happy with the outcome because there are so many pretty pieces to look at and I'm not even finished. I will add and take away as I need new colours and experiences on my inspiration board. I even snuck in a piece of Bangkok on there because I love travelling.
DIY doesn't have to be expensive and I am so glad I did this. Next time I'm at the post office I will buy another bulletin board and get started on that vision board. Which will be scary and exciting at the same time. It's the best feeling.

Do you have an inspiration board? What inspires you?

Xx

  1. I make inspiration boards when I'm trying to achieve something. So if I'm saving for a holiday I'll use pictures of my dream destinations to encourage me.

I love your board. Mine are never that neat and pretty (never could cut straight).

  7. Love it, it is like a real life Pinterest board. :)

Ironically enough, I bought one of these for the same purpose years ago, but I have yet to do/put it up as I'm renting and there's nowhere to hang it!
