OPI's Pink Friday at Nail Expressions

lsNow I couldn't think of a better thing to do on International Women's day than to spend it with my dear friend Y at our local nail place in Coogee called Nail Expressions. Since it was raining buckets, she called me to say she would pick me up which I greatly appreciated seeing as I didn't want to swim to the salon. She was having a shellac manicure and pedicure and I just did mine regular, OPI-style. Nail Expressions is just a great salon, very affordable and clean and their staff are fantastic. I also adore the decor (note the lonely bottle of Pink Friday relaxing at the counter)

Their chairs are super-comfy too and do a great massage.

There is also a fantastic cafe next door called La Petit Cafe which does great coffee and croissants. I naturally dropped my croissant on the floor because I am clumsy but my coffee survived thankfully.

Now I would just like to take the time to slip in some pedicure advise. If your salon does not clean each foot basin and equipment properly, your feet may get sick. You should check this prior to making a booking. I know from experience that Nail Expressions do a great job and there is a reason I keep going back. They do a very thorough clean in between each pedicure. Also, if your water is cold - say something. It's so lush to have your feet soaked in lovely warm water with blue bath salts and you should experience this too. The staff won't mind, they want you to enjoy your pedicure.

I chose the colour Pink Friday because it just stood out to me and I thought it would be quite sheer like most pinks are (I was wrong, but not scared to admit it). For the first time in a long time I also chose to have the same colour on my toes and fingers. I usually prefer a nice mismatch so that I can try more colours too.

Since Y's shellac was taking much longer than my mani-pedi, I had plenty of drying-time. There's nothing better than a nice girly chat with a little pampering on the side.

Obviously, with me being me I managed to chip one nail straight away but I fixed myself. I absolutely love the colour and am thinking of buying myself a bottle. Or maybe I'll make this my signature salon colour.

The manicure and pedicure costs $40 (normally mani is $20 and pedi $28). For the shellac mani-pedi it costs $70. They have also just opened a new salon in Maroubra but I haven't been there yet, I prefer my local salon of course.

What did you do on IWD? When did you last have a pampering session? Xx

  4. Hi Alison,

I have Pinking of you too, it's a great shade. I don't know how OPI manages to come up with so many great shades of pink and such great names for them all.

I will be in Melbourne in 2 weeks and can't wait. It would be great to meet you. I will be staying at the Radisson Flagstaff gardens. Is that too far away from you? I am not sure yet of my schedule, my bf needs to register his bike and all that jazz for ironman and I will be hanging about in Melbourne...:) I am sure we can figure this out xx
